In the past, there were many distinctions between men and women. Working as a woman was restrictive; they couldn,t even apply some jobs. Nowadays, there aren't as many distinctions as in the past, but there are still some distinctions in Korea, despite the fact that it is proved that almost all abilities between men and women are not different.

Firstly it is about hire. Some companies need high physical abilitys, so they hire only men. However, some other companies which don't need only men also prefer men. They say when they hire women, if women become pregnant, company has to give a vacation, so they don't want to get a loss. It is true but government prevents company from distinguishing and offers manythings about it.

Secondly, it is about salary. As recently research, women's average salary is almost 70% of men's. Although someone are difference of position, someones do same works. The problem is not only salary but also promotion. Men are promoted more easily than women. It causes a difference of salary. The company doesn't give same opportunity. It's unfair.

I think men and women are different, but their abilitied are not different, so companies have to give the same opportunity, same salary depending in work and Korean government has to make policies about it

Last Friday, I watched the movie which is called "The Pursuit Of Happyness"This movie was a real story about a successful stock broker name was Chris Gardner. Before he became a stock broker he was a salesman, so I will compare his job as a stock broker and salesman in his life.
These two jobs have some points of similarity. They had to depend on their record of performance. If he sold a machine, he got money to buy monthly groceries. They had to make relationship with many people.
However, they also have some points of difference. Working as a salesman seemed easy, butbecoming a stock broker was difficult. He had to work as a intern without salary for 6 monthsand compete with other interns. I don't know exact fact about working as a salesman, but working as a salesmanwasn't that. Even if he couldn't sell any machines, he wasn't fired in the movie.
Although, working as a salesman failed, and working as a stock broker was successful,I think success didn't depend on his jobs. The reason for misfailure that working as a salesman wasn'ta lack of his effort. It was old-new product and trend. In conclusion, if I do my best, I can be succedssful in whatever I am.

Last Thursday, when I finished a game club, I came to home. I met Kamila J. at the bus station. She was a leader of YUELI party committee, and I was a member of it.
2 hours ago, I waited her because we made an appointment, but something was wrong, we didn't meet. I was so lucky! Fortunately I encountered her. I had to give her something, so I wanted to meet her. It was a script that quiz show. We had a plan to hold quiz show at a YUELI party. Quiz was something to have to know YUELI student like idiom, English quiz , information of Toronto, YUELI, and nonsence. I made it.
Date of YUELI party came and came, but she concerned about otherthing. She had a presentation on Friday. She showed her book about presentation. It was Mankiw's macroeconomics. It was amazing! My major was economics, so I studied same book. I said "Glad to meet book, again" I was glad to see to used to study many words like IS-LM curve, Okwun's law, AS-AD curve, etc.. I was senior in Korea, so I studied almost subject of economics. I chose a York University for the reason that manything. One thing was I can attend a my major lecture in York University, but my English was not good, so I couldn't attend yet, but she said if I want she helps it. Wow, I got a good chance.

We talked about manything for 20 minutes. I joked her "Sign in conversation session report" Ofcouse she didn't sign!

One year ago, I was a Conductor in KUCA. KUCA means Korea University Classic guitar Association. There are classic guitar circles in almost university in Korea. Almost circles belong to KUCA. They have many events, like membership trainning, salon concert, guitar contest, festival,etc...,but main event is that hold a regular concert every winter.

I was elected 26th conductor last year by commitee. I had worked KUCA since 2000 for a bandmaster, manager. Finally, I became conductor. Though there are commitee, conductor is actually chief of KUCA. So I decided music to play, arranged a music for guitar ensemble, made a schedule, and held an audition. Almost canditate was begginner, so I wasn't satisfied. Anyway I chose 41 members and composed ensemble. We practiced for a month, and we held a KUCA 26th regular concert. We played the "Beethoven Symphony No.6 in F major, Op. 68 'Pastoral' "
I like Beethoven's Symphony because when I was freshman in KUCA, we played "Beethoven Symphony No.5" It was a great time for me, so I fell in Beethoven since then, and No.5 and No.6 is twin symphonys, so I wanted to play both them. Finally I played both them! Concert was sucessful. I haven't forgoten last winter.

Last Wednesday was such an exiting day. There was a hockey game on a YUELI trip. I was so excited because I had never seen a hockey game, and hockey game was unusual in other countries. Although there weren't any of my anyclassmates, I met another classmate, and she introduced her cousin to me who was a high school student in Toronto. He came to Toronto about 6 years ago. He was such as good boy.

Anyway, we reached the arena and entered. When people entered the entrance, staff gave hats or T-shirts printed Marlies.(Marlies is the hockey team, and it was Marlise's home) It was free! I was so happy, but the staff gave me only one item. I wanted both of them, and my friends too, so my friend tried to get one more, but she was rejected. We were disappointed, but I tried again. I asked "Pleeeeeeeeease" with a peading look. As a result, we got 3 items more than others. We were so happy.

Hockey game was so good. It was exiting. Many people wanted to see fighting.(there are Korean proverb "The most worthy of seeing is watching a conflagration or fighting.) It's rarely true. Hockey games were a few games to permit fighting in some dgree. When players had a quarrel, we shouted "Fighting!! Fighting!!" Maybe some people would think "You are crazy" But it didn't matter. We shouted!!! anyway, the most importantthing was Marlies won! Score was 4 to 2, and last goal was so fantastic because player scoredl 00.4 sec before finish time!! Everybody stood and cheered. It's a fantastin goal!!! and we got T-shirts and hats!!!!

I have been going to church every Sunday since 2 weeks ago. The church's name is "Westside Church" Ex-owner of my cell- phone introduced me this church. The week before last Sunday, it was the first time that I went to church with her, but she went back to Korea, so I went to church without anyone. I was so nervous, but other people welcomed me. I was happy.

This church is not the main church( Main church is located in Mississuga), so their worship place is where rent movie theater every worship time. Though they rent a different place, there are many members of church every week(about 150 people). Almost members are Korean that were born in Canada, so some people can't speak Korean well, so everything are achieved in English like a praise, preaching, prayer, greeting, etc.... I think it's a good chance to learn English, but I don't understand well yet, and the pastor speaks with strong accent. I hadn't heard this topic(worship), so sometimes I was bored.

Anyway, last Sunday, I made a new friend. His name is Dave. He is Korean, but he doesn't speak Korean well too. After worship, we had a lunch in Korean restaurant. I asked him"Try order in Korean". It seemed opposite situation. when I go to Canadian restaurant, I try to order in English, but sometimes waiter doesn't understand my pronounciation, and so did he. Waiter didn't understand his pronounciation. He was dispaired. Anyway we talked about manything. He is interested in baseball, and so do I. Maybe we will become good friends each other. We had a good time, and food was so good, so I teared(Many Koreans used this expression when it is beyond description).

Jun-ha is cook

When I lived in Korea, I lived with my parents, so my mother cooked for me, my mother isn't in Toronto, so I cook for myself everydays. Many people around me were concerned about how I can cook food. Of couse, my mother cooked for me, most of the time, but I sometimes cooked, too, and there are many Korean supermarkets near my home in Toronto. It is easy to get ingredients, so it doesn't matter. I have cooked many dishes in Toronto like curry, spicy dry-squid, Toenjang(soybean paste) stew, Tukboky(spicy sticky rice), Ubu chobab (kind of sushi), Odeng bokum, etc... Anyway, last Friday was virtual Friday. I didn't have a class. I had a plan to cook for my friend. She is an ESL student at U of T. Her class is in the morning. Before I came to YUELI, I always prepared her lunch, and we had lunch together, but we hadn't had lunch together since I have attened school, so we had a chance to have lunch together for the first time in a long time. I prepared Bulgoki(spicy seasoned pork dish). It consists of pork, onion, sugar, garlic and Gochuzang(traditional Korean spicy sauce). Although it was my first attempt, it tasted good! so we had a good lunch time. She was happy, and so was I.
